October Events in New York and Jersey City
The month of October is quite an eventful one in New York and Jersey City. There’s practically a festival every day. There are parties, there’s music, and of course there’s alcohol and good times. For all of our lucky corporate housing guests here is a compilation of events and websites to check out for events to attend. Although we cannot give a full list of all these events, because there are so many check out this site: for New York and these sites for Jersey City /more Jersey City.
53rd New York Film Festival: This festival goes on from September 25 – October 11. So although it has already started there’s still plenty of time to catch some of the upcoming events. Such include: short films, projection programs, and Steve Jobs (the movie). Other movies that will be played are: De Palma, Everything is Copy, Where to Invade Next, Homeland, and much more. There will even be HBO directors there for dialogues. On their site there is a full calendar and color coding to let you know if the event is a short program, convergence, retrospective, special events, talks, revivals, and main slate. Tickets range from free-$75 depending on what you decide to see. There are of course discount packages for those who want to see more than just a couple events. Venues for performances include, Alice Truly Hall, Film Society of Lincoln Center, Walter Reade Theater, and Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center.
Rock the Yacht: For the intense partygoers out there, here is an event that is sure to behard to remember. Rock the Yacht, is a three hour cruise, that happens throughout October, Thursdays-Saturdays. The yacht includes drinks, a live DJ, and chances to take pictures with the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bay Bridge, and more as backdrops while you’re rocking your socks off. Prices range from $25-$85.
The Halloween Parade: Of course we couldn’t miss out on putting a Halloween event into this article and here it is. The Halloween Parade boasts 53 live bands, intriguing works of art, and an incredible memory. Tickets are only $15 to experience the night of the dead the way it was meant to be experienced.
Gravesend Inn: Haunted Hotel: From October 22nd-31st a spine-chilling event comes to New York. The Gravesend Inn, a haunted hotel sure to scare anyone out of his or her pants. The Gravesend Inn occurs every year at the Voorhees Theatre in Brooklyn New York.
Oktoberfest: Oktoberfest is an opportunity for visitors from all wakes of life to experience good ole’ fashioned German beer. This crawl goes from Jersey City to Newport and includes restaurants such as: Batello, Bertucci’s, Dorians, and much more. There will also be live music, photo booths, and fun times.
Gro0ve on Grove: Next to the well-known Grove PATH station there is no shortage of music during the month of October. Grove on Grove is a festival overflowing with art. Dancing, music, and paintings are only a small part of this unique experience in Jersey City. Also included is face painting for children, and of course plenty of delicious food.
