Find inspiration in Philadelphia during your corporate trip
- Love Park
Stand before a piece of work from the beginnings of the U.S.A. to get your mind off the daily grind and seek inspiration in a piece of history used to rally people together under liberty for all. The Liberty Bell was used to call people to meetings or to gather crowds for news announcements, and was used as a symbol in the Civil war abolitionist movements, and for women’s suffrage. It’s 70% copper, 25% tin and contains small amounts of lead, gold, arsenic, silver, and zinc. Upon cracking, a technique called stop drilling was used in 1846 to prevent further fractures, but another split formed shortly after and the bell has not rung since. A Bible verse inscribed on the bell reads: “”Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants thereof.”
3. Franklin Square
When you’re surrounded by history, sometimes finding inspiration is as easy as walking around outside or pretending to be a tourist. Franklin square offers mini golf amongst miniature versions of historical landmarks, a large carousel, a large fountain, and what are considered the best shakes in town. Sometimes you just have to let out your inner child to see things from a new perspective. The park was originally designed by William Penn as green spaces to be enjoyed by all as a place of respite, so go forth and rest in it.
4. Rodin Museum
For those with a flair for physical art, check out art in an indoor and outdoor exhibit by French artist Auguste Rodin. Over 140 sculptures of bronze, metals, and plasters are placed alongside Rodin’s many portraits. Rodin is renowned for the earnest portrayals of his models , often seeking to know them to best portray their character. He is famous for “The Thinker” and his interpretation of “The Gates of Hell” from Dante’s Divine Comedy. Don’t knock it until you try it for inspiration can be found in unlikely places.
Inspiration only works when you are working. So work your brain and try something new. Visit a new park, or museum, or café shop at the corner. The experience may bring some perspective to your life. There’s a lot of awesome things people have been doing, and all you need to do is go out there and notice it.
