What is a holiday without singing? Each year, the Hoboken Historical Museum carries on the age-old tradition of caroling by gathering a band of neighbors to stroll and raise their voices in celebration of the season. They supply copies of sheet music for popular Christmas carols, and even if you’re not a strong singer, you are still welcome. Meet at the Hoboken Historical Museum at 6:30 pm where they will share lyrics and sheet music and have a quick warm-up. After that, you’ll head out at 7:00 pm to sing at welcoming stoops.

HOLIDAY CHEER ACROSS THE HUDSON
Kick off your holiday season by going to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The parade started in 1924 with Macy’s employees marching in vibrant costumes, live animals from the Central Park Zoo, and a Santa that was enthroned on the Macy’s balcony where he was then crowned “King of the Kiddies”. It has grown to be a Thanksgiving Day tradition and the event that ushers in the holiday season.
Giant balloons such as Smokey the Bear and Astronaut Snoopy have replaced the live animals of the 1920s, and performances from pop sensations, marching bands, and dance troupes from around the nation have been added to the festivities. This year there will be performances from Gloria Estefan and family, Jordin Sparks, and Ziggy Marley. Click here for the full line up.

Every year, Radio City Music Hall is transformed into a winter wonderland with song, dance, ice skating, the Rockettes, and live animals! This 90 minute show has been a Christmas tradition in New York since it first started in 1933.
In addition to the two numbers from the original show – the Rockette’s “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” and “The Living Nativity” – today’s Spectacular features over 140 performers singing and dancing to your favorite holiday songs and an appearance from a flying Santa Claus!

Every year, Rockefeller Center places the largest tree they can find to decorate and display throughout the holiday season. (Last year’s tree was a 79 foot tall Norway Spruce that weighed 12 tons, and was approximately 85 years old.)
This year’s chosen tree is scheduled to arrive on November 12th. It will be decorated with over 50,000 multi-colored LED lights and topped with a three dimensional Swarovski star that weighs approximately 900 pounds and is covered in three million crystals. The tree is lit all season for the public to enjoy, but for an extra special treat, go on November 30 to see the tree lighting ceremony, which includes live performances from top singers and bands, along with the Rockettes.

The Christmas houses of Dyker Heights in Brooklyn draw in people from all over the world with their breathtaking light displays and larger-than-life Santa Clauses and snowmen.
