10 Indoor Activities in Miami

Hello fellow travelers and adventurers! As Miami heads into July, we find that our beautiful sunny days become interspersed with rain and humidity , making it sometimes a bit unpleasant to be outside.

While for the most part, we have access to weather that allows for sun and fun, there may be times that weather-wise , not everything will go as planned. For those times, it’s good to have some indoor activities at hand to keep your friends and family entertained. Here are ten indoor activities to make your Florida trip enjoyable no matter the weather.


Museum of Graffiti

The Museum of Graffiti was formed to “preserve graffiti’s history and celebrate its emergence in design, fashion, advertising, and galleries.” The Museum experience includes an indoor exhibition space, eleven exterior murals, a fine art gallery , and a world-class gift shop stocked with limited edition merchandise and exclusive items from the world’s most talented graffiti artists. You can even take a graffiti class offered every Saturday at 5PM.

Indoor Skydiving

Indoors does not mean unexciting. At IFLY Fort Lauderdale, you can experience skydiving without ever leaving the ground. Located just 20 minutes west of Dharma’s Sheridan Ocean Club Property, IFLY has flight packages that include Flight Gear Rental, Pre-Flight Training, One-on-One Flight Instruction, and a Personalized Flight Certificate starting at $99.00 for two flights per person.

The Great Escape Room

Located at the Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, The Great Escape Room is literally around the corner from Dharma’s Grand Plaza property. Grab a meal from one of the many restaurants on the block and choose your adventure. Beginners can choose rooms like Sherlock Holmes’ Study or Professor Moriarity’s Game Room, while more advanced players can challenge themselves with The President’s Bunker. There is even a kids escape challenge room entitled Sherlock Junior.

Axe Habits

With two locations in Downtown Miami and Palmetto Bay, it’s only a short drive from any Dharma property to getting your aggressions out at Axe Habits . Toss an axe, have a drink and enjoy yourself. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time as spots fill up fast.


Fun Dimension

Located in Wynwood, FunDimension combines kids activity rooms with a restaurant for parents to relax and socialize in. Play laser tag with your family, or set up a playdate while you have lunch with a friend. This 15,000 foot facility has an indoor playground, laser tag arena, bumper cars, virtual reality, arcade games and The Galley restaurant.

SuperBlue

Discover a new immersive art experience in Miami. At Superblue Miami, you can wander through a mirrored labyrinth or travel through a flowery wonderland as your presence “provokes flowers to bloom and waterfalls to change the course of their flow.” Even their cafe is part of the immersive experience. Enjoy local food from a rotating line-up of food trucks at the installation. Don’t forget to buy the extra ticket for TeamLab’s Massless Clouds Between Sculpture and Life. The debut of this new sculpture work invites visitors to interact with clouds made of soap bubbles in an ever-changing installation.

Timeout Market

Timeout Market is a curated food hall that started in Lisbon. Timeout Miami brings its own version with 17 kitchens, three bars, a demo cooking area, and a video installation wall. Like in Lisbon, Miami follows a simple rule when it comes to curation: “if it’s good, it goes in the magazine; if it’s great, it goes in the market.” This venue allows you to get a taste of all the best local food. There is even a summer music series event on July 18th with three mystery musical guests.

Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor

If you grew up anywhere near Fort Lauderdale, you know Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor . Jaxson’s is known for its homemade ice cream made fresh daily on the premises. Jaxson's is Zagat Rated and has been featured on CNN, the Food Network, ABC's Good Morning America, Univision, WLRN Channel 17, WPLG Channel 10, WSVN Channel 7, WTVJ Channel 6 and WFOR Channel 4. This local gem has people lined up around the block to get a cone or old fashioned ice cream soda since its inception in 1956. Inside, they offer burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Be sure to order Jaxson’s most famous dish, The Kitchen Sink. This “ultimate ice cream creation” features approximately one pound of ice cream topped off with bananas, homemade whipped cream, mixed nuts, and lots of cherries. Then, just before it gets to your table, they add sparklers and sound the JAXSON’S siren!”

Urban Indoor Futbol

Just because the weather won’t cooperate doesn’t mean you can’t be active. Join a pickup soccer game at Urban Indoor Football . Just subscribe to their pickup list, and they will text you when there is a game - and they have games everyday. If you have enough people, you can even book your own field.

Miami Museums

Use a rainy day to take advantage of all the wonderful museums in Miami . Miami on the Cheap gives you a comprehensive list of museums in Miami along with what days they offer free admission. Choose from art galleries like the Bass Museum of Art or the Perez Art Museum, or explore history with the Gold Coast Railway Museum and History Miami. If you’re bringing the kids, there’s interactive exhibits at the Miami Children’s Museum and the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum.
