FALLing for NY

As we head into the autumn months, we put down our iced tea and pick up the pumpkin spiced latte; pack away the bikinis and take out the socks and sweaters; trade in sun and fun for - what? That is the question. Many people equate the end of summer with the end of vacations and leisure time, as travel plans wind down and school starts back up. But just because your clothing choices have to change, it does not mean that the good times are over.

At Dharma, we are all about making every day feel like a vacation , and nothing is better than experiencing New York in the fall. In addition to the NYC staples like Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, and the premiere of multiple Broadway shows, the fall months offer spectacular events to make you remember that you are in the cultural epicenter of the world. With that in mind, here is a list of NYC and Hoboken events to help you wrap up your summer and charge into fall.

NYC Restaurant Week Runs Through August 21

New York City Restaurant Week returns for 30 days to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The summer 2022 program features a trio of pricing options ($30, $45, $60), which restaurants may offer during meal periods of their choosing (lunch, dinner or both). The program runs from July 18 through August 21, but restaurants may participate for one, two, three, four or all five weeks. Always check the NYC Restaurant Week page before booking to ensure the offer is active at your desired restaurant at the time you want to dine.

NYFW September 9-14, 2022

New York Fashion Week has been a signature NYC event for the past 30 years. Everyone in the industry - from buyers to the press to the curious public - can get a glimpse into upcoming collections by the most prominent designers. Run by The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) , Fall Fashion week is considered one of the “Big 4” of fashion weeks, along with London, Milan, and Paris. Book Dharma Novia Hoboken and check out the events on the schedule.

New York Film Festival
September 30 - October 16

Presented by Film at Lincoln Center, the New York Film Festival has been a focal point for cinephiles since 1963. Attendees can sit in on panels, lectures, and screenings. This year, they celebrate their 60th anniversary with the opening night screening of Noah Baumbach’s White Noise starring Adam Driver. NYFF60 will take place at Film at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater and Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center, and Alice Tully Hall, with more venues to be announced. NYFF60 Passes provide early access to the festival and are on sale now!

New York Comic Con October 6-9

Instead of looking for those socks and sweaters, pull out your best cosplay costume and get ready to meet your heroes! The 2022 New York Comic Con brings everyone connected to the creation of fandoms into one room. Authors, actors, and filmmakers of Anime, DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and Harry Potter will be there to discuss their work, take photos, and sign autographs.

Tickets can be purchased for a single day, all four days, or a special VIP package which includes reserved seating, first access to purchase separately ticketed events, and a private lounge. Comic Con will be at the Javits Center, just across the river from Dharma’s Novia at Hoboken property.

Pier 13 Food Trucks Open Through October

You don’t need to cross the river to have a good time. Walking distance from Dharma’s Novia and overlooking the stunning NYC skyline is Pier 13 , a family-friendly beer garden that offers a variety of food, drinks, and activities. Enjoy a meal from one of the many food truck options available on site each day, grab a brew or try a house-made sangria, or simply sit back, relax, and catch some rays. Pier 13 runs seasonally April through October, so now is your chance to enjoy a drink and a river view with friends and family.
